Calif. Sets 2nd Straight Power Use Record

FOLSOM, Calif. - California broke its day-old electricity record Tuesday and officials predicted the latest mark wouldn’t last more than a day or two as temperatures soared toward triple digits in northern California.

   

The California Independent System Operator (news - web sites) forecast there will be enough power to meet high demand the next two weeks, avoiding a repeat of power outages that rolled across the state three years ago. The highest demand, 44,330 megawatts, came at 4:26 p.m. — the same time as the record the day before, 44,042 megawatts, which eclipsed a mark set four years ago, the ISO said. “It’s almost a sure bet we’re going to top that Thursday,” said ISO spokeswoman Stephanie McCorkle. Since the energy crisis of 2001, more than 7,200 megawatts of additional power are being produced at new plants, McCorkle said. A megawatt is enough electricity to power 750 homes for a year. Rising temperatures across inland parts of the state have prompted the ISO to ask consumers to conserve energy.

Tuesday

2002.09.03 – 7:26 pm PDT

Whelp Monday was pretty good, I got to hangout with Kim for dinner, and made some chicken and burgers, she ate really slowly considering she just got her tongue pierced on Friday. ;p

Today, I went to the chiropractors, gave him my invoice for the work I did for him a couple weeks ago. After that I went to the home depot, which shitty enough the closest one to my new house is in Santa Ana. Ohwell it was on the way home from the chiro. I picked up some plants, I got 2 dward palm trees, and 4 double imaptiens(spelling?) couple bags of potting soil, and some tools. I got home, transplanted the 2 tree’s into pots, and then turned up the soil in the planter bed and transplanted the flowers into the ground. I wish I woulda been able to buy more of the impatiens, they look good, I like the palms too.

After all that planting, I decided to clean up my bbq, and while cleaning it I realized that when I put it together last year i put it together backwards. ;p So I decided to take it all apart and rebuild it the right way, now i can hang the tank under the cart, so it rolls around nicely, and its all cleaned up now too, free of yuck. Then I started to get a lil hungry so I decided to make some burgers on it, :) and I’ve just been relaxing since.

Oi, Moving

Wow, moving has been quite the experience, I am very tired, and still not quite all unpacked.
But its starting to feel like home again. ;p
I bought a new matching bathroom mat, toilet mat, towels. :)
Hopefuly this week, once i get my check from the sale, I’ll remember to go get some more stuff for the house, some plants, and other stuff hopefully.

Cox is a bunch of bastards too, they fucked up my order for phone/digi cable/cable modem
I called a week before I moved in, they didn’t get my phone in right on thursday, they had to send someone out on Friday. the person on Friday who was supposed to setup my cable modem, setup the digital cable, and didn’t setup my back bedroom, so today I called and bitched to the same service rep guy, and I was final so pissed with him, and spoke with his manager, and got my shit taken care of and a tech was out in an hour. :)

I managed to sell my washer/dryer and old fridge, and futon today too from the free add i put in the penny saver online. it was interesting the guy i sold it too, is going to college, and his name is Bones and he is originally from Nigeria, and he used to work for flashnet, in Texas. he’s got dreads too. seems pretty cool. after he said he worked at flashnet, i said I used to work for Flashcom before it went BK, which is just kinda odd I think. Ohwell the internet and its intricate ways. hehe

oh well more later tomorrow if im not too tired.
