welp, the 2500 keeps overheating constantly after only running <10 minutes at 100%. so i re applied the arctic, 2 more times now. it better fucking work! I turned off the 2400 for a few minutes, and then back on, it’s been running just fine for several hours. it seems to be running about the same temperature as before with the case buttoned up.
athlon xp 2500 barton, 42C at idle, case closed up.
athlon xp 2400, 42C at idle, case closed up.
athlon xp 2500 barton, 52C at 100%, case closed up. ( seems jumpy as it creeps around from 47C to 57C)
athlon xp 2400, 49C at 100%, case closed up.
the temperature in the house is ~76F
the temperature in the 2500 case is 46C.
the temperature in the 2400 case is 40C.
there is definately more hardware in the 2500. 4 hdd, 2 dvd, 2 sticks of DDR400. compared to the 1 hdd, 1 stick of DDR333.
as much as i’d like to turn the 2500 into liquid cooled greatness, i dont have that kinda $$ to throw around.
2500 uptime of 19 min, 16 of that at 100%, and ~53C.
too hot for my tastes, hope this lasts. *crosses toes*
