Pre-Op stuff

The [tag]anterior cervical diskectomy[/tag] surgery on the 3rd is beginning to seem more real now. I live in a new place, I’m pretty much moved in and unpacked, I even have cable TV as of yesterday.

This morning I awoke to a phone call from the hospital about stuff I need to do before hand. Right off the bat it feels like travel, because she tells me the surgery starts sometime after 7am, and I have to get there hours earlier at 5:30am in the Admitting Section of the hospital. The one Doctor I saw earlier this week said it would be best not be sleep deprived the days leading to the surgery. So I need to get on a more regular schedule and try and get up at 10 instead of 11am tomorrow and earlier the days after. Anyways back to the phone call. The nurse also said I need Chlorhexidine Gluconate to wash myself with from the chin down my neck to the shoulders to help prevent spinal infection. And like with most surgery she told me not to eat anything past midnight that morning. Pretty basic stuff.

Damn, I forgot to ask about visitors when she called me this morning. I should only be there one day but it would mean a lot to me if you came to visit me after the surgery at the hospital. I’m sure I’ll be super bored there in that environment. Here is a Google Maps link if you really need directions.
