This trip has left me absent minded.

So for the first time ever I managed to forget both my car and wall charger for my phone. I have only 2 bars of battery left. I suppose I could go buy one from Target, and return it when I get home. Hard to say which hassle is more of an issue, conserving 2 bar until Sunday, or renting an adapter from Target. I could go ask the front desk if they have any chargers in the [tag]lost and found[/tag]. Hmm, that’s a good idea, I think I will.

update: The front desk had a huge box full of chargers.  I totally lucked out.   With a quick look and one reach into the abyss I had a charger for my phone.  w00t!

The last full capacity had been 8331 mWh for quite a long time after I began keeping track of my battery usage, and draining the battery at least once every two weeks hoping to extend the life of my new battery. Ohwell.

laptop battery

I haven’t posted any statistics about my laptop battery in quite some time.
Noticeably I haven’t lost any more capacity since November.

new battery update

I haven’t really been using the new battery that much, I kept it around a 40% discharge, then I charge it up or let it sit, and use my older battery, and leave it plugged in to the wall. Since doing the initial charge cycles, the battery doesn’t appear to have lost any more capacity.

new battery.

i got a new battery for my laptop. i got a pretty good deal on it after doing a little research.

my previous battery was only a 8000mAh, this one is 8800mAh, but max is 8792mAh. i don’t know what the orignal battery info

i’m in the middle of breaking it in while writing this. i’m on day 2 of a 3 day process. much of the process is waiting, either for warm battery to cool down, or power to charge up.

the new battery seems to last around 2 1/2 hours on my laptop doing usual sometimes cpu intensive tasks.

I really wish laptops has a better way of knowing when to charge their battery while connected to a power source.
this would optimize battery life i’m sure.
perhaps if we could control it through the acpi somehow?
send a fake event to the acpi? or the power system isnt capable of being disconnected unless physically disconnected. hrmmf :(

rrd + gnome-power reporting statistics on usage? with a little math that would provide a nice idea of the actual lifespan of the battery i belive.
