going or comming, it’s travel.

On the road again.

PREFACE: I’m bored and on the road. So I decided to write my last post using the software on my Nokia N770 before it gets to it’s new owner, who is now only 5 hours away from winning it my fun little device. Shop Victoriously! I can’t wait to try on the Nokia N810.

Sigh. :)

My trip went well and notwithstanding a few details I’m happy to report that I am coming back to California very soon! I found a place in which is fantastic. It’s much closer to my primary treating doctor and friends that I miss. It has been a few years now since I had to leave. I cannot wait to be back.

With my date only a month away, now I have a move to coordinate and schedule. These next two months are going to be trying times for myself indeed. I’ll need to really push myself now to succeed. A lot of positivity and character building too will enhance my chances.

I’m willing to bet 2008 is going to be a better year for me.

This trip has left me absent minded.

So for the first time ever I managed to forget both my car and wall charger for my phone. I have only 2 bars of battery left. I suppose I could go buy one from Target, and return it when I get home. Hard to say which hassle is more of an issue, conserving 2 bar until Sunday, or renting an adapter from Target. I could go ask the front desk if they have any chargers in the . Hmm, that’s a good idea, I think I will.

update: The front desk had a huge box full of chargers.  I totally lucked out.   With a quick look and one reach into the abyss I had a charger for my phone.  w00t!

Interview with a spine surgeon part 2; General Update.

Here I sit bored and lonely in my hotel room with my Dad snoozing away, I have nothing to do so I’ll tell you all about my day.

So only after getting jerked around for the last 3 months by the insurance company, , I had another appointment today with the surgeon I had seen back on July 17th. This time my Dad came with me so he could meet the surgeon. We discussed the surgery some more, and set a date for the procedure.

For those wondering what the name of the surgery it is called; Anterior Cervical Diskectomy and Fusion with Instrumentation and Allograft Bone C5-C7. This pretty much means in English, they are going to go through the front side of my neck, operate using a microscope, remove the disc material from the 2 areas, and carve out a 1cm notch in each vertebra they took the disc material from, and place cadaver bone in the spaces, finally placing and anchoring a titanium plate like thing to hold it all together. All this should take around 2 hours and leave a small? scar he told me.

The surgery is going to take place on Monday December 3rd, 2007 around 7:30 AM at the Irvine Hospital. (This is cutting it relatively close to the expiration date, 2007.12.11, SCIF had set for my surgery) After my surgery; I’ll have to stay in the hospital for at least 1 overnight(so everyone come visit me please!); in the state for at least a week as I won’t be able to drive or travel home to Arizona, and have follow up visits with my surgeon every 2 months for a couple years to follow.

Hopefully before?/most likely after the surgery, my status will change from Permanent and Stationary back to Totally Temporarily Disabled, which will mean I will have money for a place to live in California(fingers crossed). As most of my friends know, for various reasons, living in Arizona makes dealing with my injury quite difficult. With assistance from my friend Neil, today I did go checkout an apartment where I can live and keep my dog, but it’s all the way up in West Los Angeles/Westwood area, which is way far away from my friends and in Orange County. Alas I have never been able to find a place to live with my dog since I had to move from Irvine at the end of 2003.

Not that many read this blog… but ANYONE reading this who knows of any roomate openings or apartments without dog breed restrictions in Orange County please let me know!!! I am on a relatively short time frame for moving, again hopefully before my surgery.

OK, I’m done rambling on and on for now. Hopefully Saturday, tomorrow, will yield more apartment possibilities. We’ll be looking around the Long Beach and surrounding areas.

The way home.

Here I am again on the road. Still my dad is driving home. Only 1.5 hours to go. We’re almost to Tuscon. I can tell from the construction on the highway right before it opens up into 3 lanes.

Why does the auto complete want to end almost ever word with a “typing ing”?
ion Completioning typinging almosingredient hmm.
That killed a few minutes. We’re now in Tuscon. Passing exit 248, almost to where the major construction is at. My dad just hit some debris on the road. It scared the crap outta him. ;)

I actually kinda like using this thing to blog while on the road. should try out Maemowordpy, and Canola on his Nokia 800 when he gets his. He got it.(I wonder if he’ll take up my suggestion on the software?)

BTW.. if I haven’t said it all before, I’ll say it again… Someone needs to get a bluetooth headset/headphones working with these internet tablets, then it could be a podcasting blogstation too. Very neat indeeding. Hehe. I bet the sound quality would be quite remarkable with even a crappy headset. I wonder how how long it will be before it happens, it’s only a matter of time as I’m pretty sure it’s already been thought up.

Killing time still… Exit 268 now. Not a lot of traffic. It’s nice. Ok enough random stuff, time to save. Iwish the default save filename for Maemowordpy was better than “File”. If it merely had a date and time and smarter save and re-open process it would be so much more functional for everyday folk. Ok done for real this time… Savinging

We got home about 1/2hour ago. Total trip tine, 36 hours and change. 22 driving. 12 in the hotel. 2 at the doctor’s office. The doctor appointment went pretty good by the way.

A P o st f r o M t h e buMPy road

I’m pretty bored siting here while my dad is driving so I decided to attempt writing a blog post using my Nokia 770. It’s not 100% fun but certainly better than . We’ve been driving for close to 7 hours thus far. I spent much of the time playing the game on my Nintendo DS, and listening to MP3’s with the Nokia. It’s a little difficult typing with this thing in a moving vehicle, it’s worse using the regular so here I am tapping this out using the thumb keyboard and stylus with the occasional thumb press.

I’m slowly getting more as time passes. I had a great turkey sub sandwich from Debbies Deli for lunch, my dad ate the soon to be famous Rob’s Reuben. I wonder what we’ll eat for a late dinner… Maybe ? Mmmmm that sounds tasty….

We dined. Now to See if I c a n g et th i S to Post. It’s plain to see when I decided to use the handwriting recognition mode.

I had to clean up this post using the Post Editor and laptop. Also my categories are screwed up. Yet another thing I have to try and figure out and fix.

Yet another reason to visit California

Well I just got the utilization-review back and they only approved surgery for one level in my neck, not the two that was suggested by the 2 independent surgeons I had seen.

I have an appointment with my this Weds at 4:15pm so that means another lovely fast paced 1200+ mile drive to California and back in two days time. *sigh*

I really need to live in California again, this is ridiculous.

My birthday is Sunday the 30th, happy birthday to me.

And on another note, my blog is broken (behind the scenes) thanks to my attempts at messing around with SQL last night, hopefully I will remember to try and fix the issue once Wordpress 2.3 is out.

this just in…

I just heard on the ABC TV nightly news that , my hometown, is banning public nudity.

Under the current laws your allowed to walk around naked as long as it’s not for sexual gratification.

I think they need to have a nudity day in protest of changing of the laws.

in california, insomnia

I can’t sleep.  I should be more tired.  I only got like 4 maybe 5 hours of sleep on Sunday.

I hurt pretty bad from the drive.  My neck is burning.  My meds usually make me tired along with grogginess in the morning.  I’m happy they aren’t giving me indigestion like usual.  I took them a few hours ago, hopefully it won’t be as difficult to wake up in several hours.  I’m also a bit constipated and bloated feeling which sucks.  Hurray for the TMI at 2am!

Well anyways, what else to write…

I have an appointment today with my PTP, and I already got my notes ready for that prepared.  So I should remember easier what needs to be accomplished with him tomarrow(?)/Today.

Later, I should be going out to dinner with a friend, and friends, to some Mongolian BBQ place.  Should be tasty.

It’s nice having some variety.

For breakfast/lunch today(sunday) I ate Vietnamese food at Pho 99.  I had the Bun Thom Tit Nuong, and fresh squeezed lemonade, and also got a beef sandwhich to go.  They’re even better for late lunch.  Then later ordered a pzone from pizzaslut, which was disgusting, and good, so much for that, at least it was cheap. <$10

and a few lyrics for rhyming sake.

time to rest my weary head again, perhaps i will fall asleep.

even when resting on a cloud, my laptop is really loud
what the fuck you say, the internet here is gay.

packet traces sent in tubes, broken bits, and IT boobs.

lost reception, packets denied, where’d they go, you can’t hide.

lurking on the copper line, my laptop sniffs so fine.

capturing your bits, while your browsing some tits.

I see where you go, and read your flow…

of information.  No, I’m not spying.

california 15th to 18th.

I may decide to come out a day earlier if there is anything going on.
hit me up if you want to hangout.
I’ll be staying in costa mesa near the 55.

Marriot Residence Inn Speed Test #2

I am again staying at the Costa Mesa Marriot Residence Inn while here in California. Quite bored, and with a lack of anything better to do, it’s time.

Apart from staying in a different building, the main difference this time is I brought my La Fonera with me so I wouldn’t need to be tethered to anything. The last time I was completely unable to get the Ethernet working, and only able to use the USB port to function. This time the ethernet is working just fine, and I had to use my laptop to get the La Fonera up and connected.

The internet access here, like most, uses a web based captive portal to force you to read and accept something. It also asks a couple questions, like would you prefer to have a public IP address? The La Fonera is obviously not going to be able to answer any of the questions, so it just sits there. Being unable to talk to the world, something inside of the La Fonera also triggered the captive portal for the encrypted “myplace” SSID, which then makes it impossible to use the to enable the internet access for the room. At this point I decided to use an extremely helpful Linux utility, macchanger, and switch the laptop Ethernet mac address to my La Fonera’s. I then went through the captive portal, gave myself a public IP address, restarted the interface, and it was gravy. I plugged the Ethernet and power back into the La Fonera, and a couple minutes later I was in business. It’s almost been 24 hours since starting this session, so soon again I will have to go through the portal. Maybe this time the La Fonera captive portal won’t trigger.

Enough background story on to the numbers.

Current Mood:Confused emoticon Confused

Attention Californians, I’ll be in California for some appointments in about a week. I know for sure I’ll be there on April 23rd, and not sure about how long I’ll be there. I’m thinking it’d be nice to spend the weekend there and get out of this town for a few days. So possibly 20th to 24th? I duno yet. While there are other things which would be good to get done while out there, at the moment, it’s not very promising.
Hit me up, let’s hangout.

Bad Behavior has blocked 800 access attempts in the last 7 days.
