I read this post on Hackszine.com about a cat door hack. I’ve been thinking about an idea for a while so I felt motivated to write about it.
Here is a pic of my dog Negative’s water station.

I posted the below to Hackszine.com request form.
I have one of those pet water station things, where you fill up the jug and then flip it upside down and place on the base to drain into the drinking area.Well I hate to admit it but I don’t pay attention to the water level everyday. Sometimes my dog will run out of water and I won’t notice until he knocks the jug off the base.
I remember when I was a kid, I had a Radio Shack electronics kit, and one of the projects was a water level indicator of sorts. So here is my thought, it should be easy enough for someone to hack together instructions to make something simple that plugs on to the water station base and then indicates via bright LED light, and or electronic buzzer when the water level is too low. The device should also be low voltage, and perhaps run off a wall wart, or battery for simplicity. It should not permanently attach to the base and or the jug as both should continue be to dish washer safe.
