mega changer

I wonder if this works with linux.

Sony VGP-XL1B2
200 Disc Changer; CD, DVD, etc.
Firewire connection.

Maybe once these are around $200 I’ll put it on my wish list.
:)

DIY Jukebox.

The Sony XL1B2 is supposed to work with mts (http://mtx.badtux.net/). The MythTV site had some info on it too:

I plan to buy one very soon. Need a a ripper for my CDs. Been trying to use a changer from Kubik using simple Python scripts. However, it’s over 10 years old and showing it’s age. email me if you get anywhere with this.

well take it off your wish list an put it on your need-to-have list. i got my XL1B2 last week. by the evening I had my patched mtx app controlling the changer from the command line. in a few more days i tested out my python app on a batch of 145 audio CDs. i posted some pics of the internals here (i’m kejava):

you won’t regret using it with Linux. it works flawlessly.
